KITTEN/CAT HEALTH ISSUES

KITTEN/CAT HEALTH ISSUES

For my next few blogs I can going to go through some common kitten/adult health issues.

WORMS:  Tapeworms and roundworms are common in young kittens, and are often passed from mother to baby, symptoms include weight loss, diarrhoea and sometimes the kitten can vomit up the worms.  This is why it is so important to worm your kitten/cat, you normally start worming when they are 2 wks old, then 5 wks and 8 wks this of course depends on the product used, please please only use products from a vet.  When your kitten is an adult you should worm every 3 months this depends on your cat some like my cat  Poppy who is a huge prey catcher gets worms alot so I worm her every 2 months.

FLEAS:  Fleas are tiny  parasites that feed on your cats blood and of course us too, fleas can cause huge problems for a kitten and can cause anaemia, always use good quality flea treatments from your vets if you do have a flea infestation then you need to treat your home RIP Flea spray is very good.  You should use a flea treatment once a month again this depends on your cat mine tend not to get fleas so I only do them every 3 months each animal is different always ask a vet first if increasing or decreasing a dose.

Next week I will be giving advice on Feline Infectious Enteritis and Chlamydia.

AS ALWAYS IF YOU ARE EVER WORRIED ABOUT YOUR PET SEEK A VETS ADVICE

Annette has been really reliable and flexible in meeting our requirements and she loves Louie. Louie is happy with Annette too. We’ve had other dog walkers tell us how good Annette is with him and that is very comforting.
